Heartland Power Cooperative Hosts Annual Meeting

The 12th Annual Meeting of Heartland Power Cooperative with offices in Thompson and St. Ansgar was held at the St. Ansgar High School Gymnasium in St. Ansgar, Iowa on Tuesday, March 30, 2010 at 6:30 P.M. The Branding Iron of Thompson catered a roast beef dinner meal to 672 members and guests prior to the annual meeting. Each of the members registering was presented a bag filled with several attendance gifts. The “Highway 9 Music Group” from Osage, Iowa provided the entertainment. Pastor Gary Gonnerman of St. Ansgar gave the invocation.

The business meeting included reports by the CEO/General manager, Jon Leerar and officers of the Board of Directors. Samantha Horak of Buffalo Center, the 2009, Youth Tour Participant reported on her Washington D.C. Youth Tour Trip which was sponsored by Heartland Power. There was an election for three directors of the cooperative. Richard Rosenberg of St. Ansgar, Berdell (Bud) Ahrens of Rudd were re-elected for a three-year term for District No. 1 and Gene Nelson of Lake Mills was re-elected for a three-year term for District No. 2.

A drawing was held for $50 electric bill credits following the meeting. The drawing for the six $50 mail ballot prize winners were: LM Lahey, Nicholas, Leon Olson, Northwood, Dale Action, Prior Lake, Mn. Paul Krueger, Ionia, Dan McDonald, Ionia and Larry Patterson, St. Ansgar.
