Automatic Bill Payment - Bank Draft

Question - How will the Automatic Bill Payment work?
Answer - Once you sign up for the ABP, you will receive your bill each month as usual. Included on the bill will be a statement, "PAID BY BANK DRAFT ". We will draft your account approximately 1-3 days prior to the due date of your bill.

Question - Is there a charge for the ABP?
Answer - No, neither the Cooperative nor your bank will charge you for this service.

Question - When will my account be drafted each month?
Answer - The automatic bank drafts will be processed on the 20th of each month. If the 20th falls on a holiday or weekend, the draft will occur the next business day.

Question - Can I cancel the ABP whenever I wish?
Answer - You can cancel the ABP at any time with written notice to the Cooperative.

Question - How will this affect the Level Payment Plan?
Answer - If your account is set up on the Level Payment Plan, your bill will appear as it has in the past. The only change is that the payment will be drafted each month automatically for you. If you are not currently on the Level Payment Plan, you can sign up at anytime.

Question - How do I sign up for the ABP?
Answer - If you are interested in the Automatic Billing Payment, you simply need to fill out the ACH - Authorization Form. Include all the information asked for and be sure to attach a check marked "VOID" or a deposit slip from your bank account. Mail the form to either Cooperative office and we will do the rest.

Question - After I send in the Authorization Form, how long will it take before my payments are made automatically by bank draft?
Answer - As soon as we receive your Authorization Form, we will put the information on your billing file. Once we have done this, we are required to do a pre-notification to your bank to double check the information for accuracy. Once the information has been verified, your bill will include the message, "PAID BY BANK DRAFT ". We estimate that it will take one or two billing cycles to complete this process.

Question - Who do I call if I have more questions?
Answer - Call either Cooperative office at 1-888-584-9732 in Thompson or 1-800-349-2832 in St. Ansgar and ask for our Billing Department.

Level Payment Plan
Upon written request, the Cooperative will permit a residential member-consumer or other member-consumer whose consumption is less than 3,000 kWh per month to utilize a Level Payment Plan whereby monthly bills will normalize over the course of the year. The member-consumer may enroll in any month during the year provided there is no unpaid balance. The date upon which monthly payment is to be made may be adjusted to meet the special circumstances of the member-consumer. If a member-consumer fails to make payments in accordance with the level payment plan, the member-consumer will be removed from the plan.

There will be a late payment charge based on the amount of energy billed for any payment not received by the due date.
