Congratulations Heartland Power Scholarship Recipients 2010

Heartland Power Cooperative is operated as a non-profit company. This means that all money left over after the cost of providing electric service is returned to the members in the form of capital credits. When Heartland Power is unable to locate former members, their capital credits become unclaimed property. The state of Iowa allows Heartland Power to distribute the unclaimed capital credits to area schools in the form of scholarships. Heartland Power provides one $500 scholarship to each school in our service area.

The scholarship selection committee reviewed 56 applications from the cooperative’s service area and the following students were the recipients of this year’s Heartland Power Scholarships:

The scholarship is open to any high school senior student in the Heartland Power service area. HPC encourages any student planning to enroll in a full-time accredited, two year or four-year college or vocational/technical school in Iowa or Minnesota to apply.

Lineman Scholarship Program Offered

Heartland Power Cooperative offers two $500 scholarships each year for students attending Power Lineman’s School who reside in the area of Heartland Power’s service area. Power Lineman students may also qualify for student loans for tuition at 0% interest. Please contact Marilyn Brass, Communicator at 641-584-2251 or 888-584-9732 for information.
