2010 Washington D.C. Youth Tour Trip Winner

Heartland Power is proud to announce our Youth Tour Trip winner for 2010. Kyle Pals, son of Bruce and Renee’ Pals of Titonka, Iowa was picked by the judges to represent Heartland Power at the Washington D.C. Youth Tour, June 12 -17.

Kyle is a junior at Woden-Crystal Lake-Titonka High School. He will join many other Iowa students along with students from all over the United States also sponsored by their local electric cooperatives.

Christen Pink, daughter of Mr and Mrs. Tim Pink of St. Ansgar, Iowa was the runner up. The other participants in the final judging were Erica Eastman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Eastman of Riceville, Iowa; Shelby Hicks, daughter of Martin and Sandra Hicks of Charles City, Iowa; Andrea Mayer, daughter of Joe and Ann Mayer of Stacyville, Iowa and Alyssa Schwarck daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dan Schwarck of Riceville, Iowa. Each participant received $50 for participating in the judging. Each student completed and returned an open book test. The final judging was an oral test which was held on Wednesday evening, April 7, 2010 at the Teluwut Grille House & Pub in Osage, Iowa with Darrell Goff, Executive Vice President/General Manager of Prairie Energy with offices in Clarion and Garner, Kenric Scheevel, Government Relations Specialist at Dairyland Power in La Crosse, Wisconsin and Mark Zweibohmer, Compliance and Training Coordinator for four electric cooperatives including Heartland Power serving as the judges.
